Albania: Projected economic growth for next year at 4.3%
The 2019 draft budget continues to sustain the country’s economic growth, while tax consolidation continues by further reducing public debt. This was declared today by the Albanian Finance minister, Arben Ahmetaj during the presentation of the 2019 draft budget in front of MPs at the parliamentary economy committee. Economic growth is expected to be sustained mainly by domestic demand, such as private consumption and investments. Stopping on investments, the minister also explained that an offer has been submitted for the Tirana-Durres highway, which is being envisaged. The head of the ministry of Finance also commented the public-private partnership, stating that this sort of partnership will not be allowed to act as a potential threat for the budget. As far as implicit threats are concerned, the minister ranked the energy sector, where the government aims to have a smaller exposure of the budget to this sector.
